Silence in Writing

I think it's maybe kind of strange even to say that there is silence in writing at all because silence pertains to the auditory, right? Because writing and reading are visual media rather than auditory media. I would say it's a representation of silence rather than saying that it is representational silence if we can say that. But then again, I'm the kind of person for whom all of my favorite experiences in life are one of one's of solitude and silence.
