Since the onset of the COVID pandemic, rates of emergency medical services for suspected opioid overdose have increased by 57%. Dr. Anton: How can we improve outcomes for these folks from the ED when they're in crisis? And then, how can we maximize the chances of good quality ongoing care so that they don't bounce back to the ED yet again? Well, I have absolutely no clue. But I can tell you who does, an emergency doctor here in Calgary, who's been working aggressively on a program that engages people with lived experience of addiction in crisis.
