The Importance of Non-French Packaging in Quebec
In the 70s, when Quebec's strict language laws came into place, about 20,000 Jews left the city. A compromise was reached and imported products with non-French packaging are now allowed in the province 40 days leading up to Passover and 20 days after Passover. And these types of language laws have impacted the Jewish population of Montreal.
