What Makes Italian Bees?

There are basically three major strains of bees: Italians, Caucasians and Carniolans. Usually it's pretty clear which genetics are dominant in your hive after a little bit of experience. For beekeepers, many strains have been even further selected for specific characteristics such as productivity or disease resistance. In order to acquire a particular strain of B, you only need to purchase a queen since the queen controls the genetics of the entire colony.
