High-Flow Nasal Cannula Therapy in Bronchitis

High-flow nasal cannula should definitely be avoided in patients who have facial anomalies that preclude appropriate nasal cannula placement, like coenile atresia. Children who have active amuses, bowel obstruction, or even sensory issues which may create agitation may be relative contraindications for high- flow nasal cannula. Don't delay escalation of invasive respiratory support if patient does not have significant change in hemodynamics such as a decrease in heart rate or oxygenation parameters.
