The Kaba - A Small, Rectangular Temple in the Town of Mecca
The kaba is a small, rectangular temple in the centre of a clear courtyard in mecca. It seems to go back several centuries before the time of mohammed and possibly even earlier than that. By the sixth century, the kaba was a significant site where pilgrims would come into mecca. They would pray or make offerings in the kaba. And the kaba had in it 360 idols, or figures of deities, that had been collected over the centuries.
