Deuteronomy - The Presence of the Past

This is the only place in Deuteronomy where Sinai is used instead of Horeb, which suggests again, the chapter 33 is an independent and likely much older tradition than Deuteronomy. So, according to this passage, that Yahweh's home base is in the south, right? The Lord come from Sinai. And we see this laid out in the first five chapters of Deuteronomy for any generation reading it. I like to call this theme the presence of the past. It means that the past is actually very much present for you. It's a present reality for you.
