How to Turn Off Animations on Linux Machines
I turn off animations on most machines anyway, just because I don't want to wait two seconds for a window to minimize. When it comes to sort of thrashing IO, that doesn't really affect the lightweight nature of Linux. If you dip under the 8 gigabyte threshold, then you do start to notice. But in general, we're nearly there, but I wouldn't say we should just say everyone's fine.
