Gossett: A Bridge Between Pearson and Fisher
Gossett was a bridge between the older world of Pearson and the emerging world of Fisher. He would send Fisher some analytic derivations. Fisher would write back. Gossett would then forward Fisher's mail to Pearson to ask Pearson to help him understand what Fisher said. At one point Pearson just blocked publication of anything Fisher wrote in Biometrica. The paper you should be aware of if your quantity is 1908, it is by student and it is the T-test.
