The Paranoia of Domitian
The son of a prominent Neuronian general, Domitian had lived into 69 AD as a sort of unofficial political hostage. He was physically present in Rome during the last mad days of Nero and Galba. The Senate as a body had many characteristics, but loyalty to the sitting emperor was clearly not one of them.
