The History of the Free African Society and the 1793 Yellow Fever Epidemic

The Free African Society was a group of former slaves. They were the only organization that volunteered to help the sick during the 1793 epidemic in Philadelphia by serving as nurses. And but then they were blamed for price gouging and stealing and you know, the racist tropes really came out in earnest.
