Is Baptism Through Pouring or Sprinkling a Sign?

Baptism is both a visible word showing God's promises and a seal. Is baptism in water only properly administered by immersion or can pouring and sprinkling also be seen as proper? The original Reformed Baptist did not think that baptism via pouring or sprinkling was invalid. They thought it was improper.
