Do I Need to Put a Manager on Probation or Protect Client Relationships?

Bob Greene: I'm really struggling with one of my subordinates. She's great with clients, but internally at our company she treats people terribly. Should i do the brave thing and put her on probation, or should i protect client relationships? He says many companies have a dis functional reward system that allows them to get away with nasty behavior so long as they keep bringing in the money. Greene: If this person is just doing what everybody else does in the organization to get ahead, it's actually management's fault.
