The Story of Mary's Killing
Mary Kelly was murdered in Whitechapel, London. Her partner Joseph stopped to talk with her on a Thursday evening just hours before she would be murdered. A neighbor heard the sound of a song floating out of Miller's court that night and recognized it as one from music halls. Mary had been invited by an unemployed laborer named George Hutchinson who wanted to lend her six pence but he didn't have any money or anything to pay for her services. The two exchanged words until they saw another man standing in the street at the same time; they threw back their heads and set off together.
