The Moral Consequences of Brett's Theory
Theories like Brett's often make moral things from it. Here's the theory and this theory has this moral consequence, he says. But they tend to ignore the other moral consequences. If down syndrome can cause people to lose interest in taking care of themselves then that would be a counter example to their whole thesis that genes can't change our desires. And so I think that there, there in a contradiction cycle that this is going to imply things that I don't actually want it to imply but once I start taking it seriously some of the conclusions that come out of it are unacceptable.
