The Different Types of Vowel Sounds

A diphthong is a syllable that kind of has two different sounds. So if I say the vowel A, like hate, notice that there's a Y sound. Long vowels have a Y or a W sound afterwards. Do you hear those glide sounds? Those Ws and Ys are how we end a long vowel. But on the other hand, short vowels don't have a glide sound so just a-i-i-a-a.
