This book contains so many chapters and interesting information and stories, we will not be able to go through all of them here today in our podcast. We will focus on the 3 chapters, one on rats and cats, one on the yao ethnic minority and the last on the boatwoman chapter. So what is the story behind this metaphorical phrase, rats and cats and how did that phrase become your chosen book title? Okay yeah, well I guess I could start off by saying one of the biggest influences in writing this book was Robert Daunton's seminal book called The Great Cat Massacre, which was first published in I think 1985.
