The La Brea Tarpets
The La Brea tarpets might have been the best thing I've seen in years. Not only is the tar not on top, it's not hot. You think of asphalt, you think it's going to be really hot. But underneath the water, no, it's more like a room temperature sort of thing. The animals would come to get a drink. They couldn't get their feet out. There were predators that waited for them to fall over.
