"I like to make a movie about deep things, but I also like it to be fun and I like to see the comedy in it because that's a reflection of who I am," she said. "There was a lot of stuff of the undercurrent of America that was in the film that I think people at this time didn't, hadn't quite gotten yet." She added: "If it had come out a year later, perhaps if it had been released six months earlier, maybe there would have been more support for [it]."
