Mexican-born Ruben Navarrette moved to the US 26 years ago. He became a de facto volunteer at his children's school in Dallas, Texas. A few years later he joined the Latino Community Foundation in San Francisco. "I have never in my life done like, you know, fundraising like official fundraising," says Navarrette.
