CHAPTER

The Importance of Pit Stops in Formula One

F1 pit stops are an essential part of an F1 Grand Prix. In a dry race, drivers must pit to change those tires. Drivers can also pit if their cars are damaged. Some bits of bodywork like broken front wing can be replaced quickly at a pitstop. But in hot weather where tires degrade or wear out quickly, it's actually better for drivers to make two or even three pit stops. We're going to talk about everything that happens during a pitstop and who makes up the pit crew later on.
