The Future of Face Recognition

The first system for this was introduced in the late 1950s by the Los Angeles Police Department. It was these features on transparent sheets and you rotate them around and you reconstruct the face. Identikit was used by Scotland Yard in a case in 1961 when they were trying to identify someone who had been seen at an antique shop where she worked. But it turns out that despite success stories with this, it turns out these face recognition approaches are generally not so good in terms of being able to identify people.
