Is Russia on the Back Foot?
The headline is saying that russia is on the back foot. That's an expression that means at a disadvantage, o in a defensive position. It comes from sport, probably, or possibly cricket. And if you're on the back hand, your position is not ready to attack, your balance is ready to defend. So by saying that RUSSIA is on theback foot, the headline writer thinks that they are less stable than before.
