Writing on Ruins

I've been thinking about ruins for quite some time, and from many different perspectives. I was struck by the varied fates of these places and came to wonder why, prehistoric or historic, they all were considered ruins. In this book on freedom, I became very interested in the power of artists and poets to unmake, or redo a work, or to leave a work incomplete.
