The WGA Strikes in Response to Deteriorating Working Conditions for Unionized TV Writers

The Writers Guild of America or WGA strikes now on March 20th 2023 the WGA entered into contract discussions with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television producers that's AMPTP. The two parties failed to agree on negotiations by the May 1st deadline so on midnight of May 2nd the WGA began a strike in response to deteriorating working conditions for unionized TV writers. While overall production budgets have risen sharply writer pay has declined by 4% over the past decade 23% when adjusted for inflation. Eight Hollywood CEOs pocketed nearly 780 million dollars between them from 2017-2021 end quote. Corporate CEOs then have incentive to push this idea that they're going to be replaced by AI
