Why Do We See the Decline of Religion?

Why have we seen the decline of religion, especially over the last 50 years? There's a number of factors that sociologists point to. The rise of the intenet is another massive driver because it's shifted how we understand knowledge and even community life to happen. To be religious meant being nasty and homopugic and all sorts of other things which just made much less attractive a kind of language or identity for people to carry.
