There's been a lot of debate with regard to the benefits of knowing more than one language. Being able to trade out between the two languages might be helpful because you might be able to develop an idea in one language that would be harder to develop in anotherlanguage. But there's also the flip side of that is that you can actually get interference between multiple languages.
Morten Christiansen is Professor of Psychology at Cornell University and Nick Chater is Professor of Behavioural Science at Warwick Business School. Together, they've written The Language Game, a new book which explores the science and psychology of language and some of its mysteries too.
