He had this cheerful fatalism that cheerful fatalism is the pleasure of a struggle that is perpetuated and may not succeed. And I think that's really the heart of the kind of freedom that he is attaching to a morpha tea when he says, Gerta became free. So if we're going to imagine a society in which a Morphe tea becomes possible, it has to become compatible with our drive towards power. The big question then is what is this drive towards power? And I take a very unusual position on that.
