Rats in New York City
In new york, as in all great seaports, rat abound. One is occasionally in their presence without being aware of it. In the whole city, relatively few blocks are entirely free of them. They have diminished greatly in the last 25 years, but there are still millions here. Some authorities believe that in the fie burrows, there is a rat for every human being. The biggest rat colonies in the city are found in random tures ore near the water front. And many live in crannies in the subways.
