Iron Nanoparticles in Star's Platform Are a Dual Mechanical Chemical Approach to Biofilm Removal
The iron oxide used in the solution, which is Fe3O4, reacts with hydrogen peroxide to generate free radicals like a hydroxyl radical OH. So this would be as if you had an antimicrobial toothbrush bristled along with the sort of force of your brushing. The authors found that they could collect those nanoparticles, do biomarker analysis, and they could identify the components of the biofilm.
