The Ottoman Empire and the Arab Revolt
The Ottomans believe that if they fight in the war on the side of Germany, that they will be able to defeat their Russian enemy. This is completely wrong and what the Ottomans end up doing is not only do they side with the wrong side, but their presence in the war makes the First World War into a truly global war. A key factor in the defeat of the Ottoman in the war is the Arab Revolt. Prior to the war, the Ottoman Empire had been known as the Sick Man of Europe. Now, soundly defeated on all fronts, that sickness becomes terminal.
