The patient does go directly to ERCP or endoscopic retrograde colangiopankerytography got that and so the ERCP indeed shows several CBD stones found in the distal comma bile duct which are cleared via balloon sweep. Then a sphincterotomy is performed to prevent recurrence of those CBD stones. The key thing to do for these patients before they go home is that you need to consult surgery to remove their gallbladder because if you leave the gallbladder in place they're just at higher risk for forming more gallstones.
