The Story of Albert Pike's Caravan
The next two or three months were extremely harsh and Albert Pike had learned what it was like to be in complete survival mode. The caravan was now followed by a pack of wolves at night hoping for another morsel of dead oxen. On November 18th the men completely unbeknownst to them were walking into a blizzard that would make the history books. At this point, Pike became convinced that Bent, Captain Bent, the leader of their caravan was either intentionally trying to kill them or was going to kill them accidentally through sheer incompetence.
