How to Get Me to Recognize You as an Independent Entity

Art aims at this very narrow thing called beauty. Anything that isn't aiming at that is not true art, right? It's so much wider than that. I would think that the kind of art that is chock full of content and makes us actually sympathize with other people as independent entities is a much more direct route to getting us recognized others as ends in themselves.
