The Evolution of Sultan Kaboos' Favorability Ratings

Sultan was a very complicated personality and he somewhat like his father tended to shut himself away and isolate himself for a period of time. He entrusted many of the operations of government to other people, some of whom did better job than others. In 2011, when the demonstrations that began particularly in Swahar during the Arab Spring, people demonstrated against the elite in musket who were making lots of money while the ordinary Omani young men and women coming out of secondary school couldn't find jobs. They protested against government but explicitly said they were not protesting against the so-called "Baba Kabus"
