In the early drafts of the book, the danger wasn't present enough. So in these chapters, i step up the danger from sheor's crew. Defeating carata and tan happened quickly and with relative ease. If sheor's band had not presented a problem, then the entire three gangs plot would have been unfulfilling. I don't think e's run out of oxy but brandon mentions esge hit the annotations a little bit on this because er he says, i knew raid and had more difficulty with sh s band than with the other two.
