Charles the first had his head chopped off, parliamentarians grabbed a lot more power. The monarchy was reinstalled but they kind of said "know your place" Now we've got Charles III and he does face a lot of very big challenges. He will find it quite difficult if Scotland decides it wants to have a referendum for independence.
