The Liberatory Thread of the Enlightenment

The enlightenment was in a lot of ways, you know, about conversation. It's an age of intellectual synthesis where previously intellectual backwaters like England and France suddenly found themselves at the center of global empires. And I think maybe the clearest example of that liberatory thread is something like the French Revolution. This sense of dialogue being this thing where truth can sort of find its footing and lies can fade away has some lineage to Madagascar.
