Per Accidents Ordered Series - What About the Act of Existence?
Thomas argues at length that things don't possess essay, the act of existence per se because they're composites of essence and existence. Existence is distinct from the essence so they produce it through an all. They participate in another through their existence. So there has to be a primary cause of essay, which possesses essay per se. This primary cause is that hypothetical being that we saw as one unique, incapable of multiplication and immaterial. It's not what God is, a single unique cause of all that is. Anything else is, he's that at least. Go back to the hand, stick, stone example. The mental agent is the primary cause of the motion of the series.
