The author of a new book on the tax system says he had no idea how much it disadvantages black families. He found that white married couples are more likely to be in single, joner households and get a tax cut when they get married. Black married couples were more likely to have what i call marriage penalty households,. And therefore paying higher taxes. The difference between these two modalities extends far beyond just how much tax you ay.
