Virtues are not to be objectified or just sort of utilized and discarded, but through and with God's grace, the virtues help us live chastely. They also heal and elevate the desires that we have. It can be difficult to trust that your desires are in fact good because we know from experience that we are like limitlessly capable of self-deception.
