Set up a verbal cue has very specific steps and these are steps that you take when you're calm and together, not in the middle of an argument or something. The two of you have agreed that there is an issue that you would like to address. And you agree not only that it needs to be addressed, but also how to address it. You can't impose a verbal cue on somebody because they are by definition about both of you participating. So let me give you an example of how to set one up.
