The Dilemma of Philip Laudridge
Philip Laudridge was between 1730 and 1751 a dissenting minister in Northampton. He wrote a sixth volume work on the New Testament for heads of households. His comment on the opening verses of Hebrews is significant. But his own exposition neither follows Patristic exegesis nor does it contradict it. The difference from the exegetical tradition up to this point is subtle but marked.
