Norwegian mining company Solstice is investigating ways to support miners who may be working on the moon or Mars. The research is being funded by the European Space Agency, but growing plants in regolith or moon soil is too difficult. So using hydroponics, cultivating crops in water may be more successful. If we can grow plants on the moon, it would enable humans to have a permanent or there's a longer presence on the moon and then we won't have to transport material from Earth.
