The Different Fee Structures of the Market
Fees have been substantially increased, which made a lot of sense when the market was doing 10, 12, 14% returns year after year after year. Now fees are either 50 basis points or 100 basis points depending on what type of portfolio you're looking for for long only. There's nobody in the investment world today that would say, I'm going to beat my competition by a third years after year afteryear after year. If you do that in the United States, 84% of actively managed mutual funds underperformed the U.S. market over the last 10 years. The guys that dropped out and got maimed will get counted as those who didn't make it.
