The Dural Wanger Brigade, in cooperation with the equally sadistic Kaminsky militia, massacred 40,000 unarmed men, women and children. Shank makes it clear that whenever the enemy were actual soldiers with actual guns, the undisciplined sloppy viciousness of the Duralwanger men was as much a hindrance as a help. The violence that follows is a slaughter almost unparalleled in the history of armed conflict. Today it's known as the Wola Massacre.
