The Importance of Central Europe

In the 1980s and 1990s, Central Europe was a ferry. It was a concept that was to carry what had been politically Eastern Europe into the West. In that sense, one could very well say that Ukraine today is Central Europe. Detaching it from any specific argument about the Austro-Hungarian heritage might be as simply in this sense of a country moving away from the political East and towards the geopolitical West.
