In 1957 he proposed this new model to the Shah of Iran, which you could call the Matei model. He said, allow us to look for oil in Iran, and we will create an oil company based in Iran that is 50% owned by the Iranian National Oil Company. The NI did not always maintain this, if you will, anti-colonial position throughout his history. But at least at the beginning, that was the novelty it presented.
