The 40 Hour Work Week
I feel the 40 hour work week, especially say the tradition nine to five probably has formed since the days when people work in the factory or go farming. There's something about the amount of context that you can fit in your brain simultaneously being the main bottleneck to creative action where I could implement fully fledged features. The first time I worked 100 hours gave me crystal clear powers over our code base that I would not have otherwise. It's categorically possible to do things that would not have been possible at your engineering level otherwise. And if you don't actually realize how much your lack of context is affecting your ability to program a program, yeah, it's very special and somewhat irreplaceable
