Disney has warned that it may bypass cinemas altogether and go right to streaming in the future. It's trying to pressure the film producers association, the culture ministry, the theaters themselves to negotiate a shorter window for their theatrical releases. This is a classic sort of business dispute, which has sort of cultural elements of it because France has such a specific system around the way that their cinema industry operates.

Strong US bank earnings reports pumped up Wall Street stocks and new UK chancellor Jeremy Hunt scrapped the bulk of his party’s controversial proposed tax cuts. Plus, Disney agreed to release ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ in French cinemas next month but warned that its biggest movies may go straight to streaming in 2023.
